The Ancient Vietnamese Arthritis Remedy
Neighboring Country
In our recent post, we visited China and learned about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) used as an arthritis remedy throughout the country from ancient times until these days.

Our today’s post, we will also have a quick look at China’s neighboring country which is Vietnam, and see a few examples of arthritis remedies being used thousands of years ago.
In Vietnam, traditional remedies and practices are commonly used to manage arthritis symptoms. Here are they:
Medical Herbs
Vietnamese traditional medicine incorporates the use of various herbs for managing arthritis. Some commonly used herbs include turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, lemongrass, and galangal. These herbs are believed to have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture, a traditional Chinese medicine practice, is widely utilized in Vietnam for arthritis management. Fine needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points to help regulate the body’s energy flow and alleviate pain and inflammation.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy involves placing cups on the skin and creating suction to stimulate blood circulation and relieve muscle tension. Cupping is often used in combination with other traditional treatments to help reduce pain and stiffness associated with arthritis.
Traditional Vietnamese Massage
Traditional Vietnamese massage, known as “Tam Quat,” focuses on applying pressure and kneading techniques to specific points and areas of the body. This massage technique aims to improve blood circulation, reduce muscle tension, and promote relaxation, which may help relieve arthritis symptoms.
Herb Soaks And Compresses
Herbal soaks and compresses are traditional remedies used in Vietnam for arthritis relief. Medicinal herbs, such as ginger, lemongrass, and eucalyptus, are steeped in hot water and used for soaking affected joints or as compresses applied to painful areas.
Note:
It’s important to note that while these traditional remedies and practices have been used in Vietnam for generations, their effectiveness may vary, and scientific evidence supporting their use for arthritis management is limited. If you’re considering trying any traditional remedies or practices, it’s advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or a traditional healer knowledgeable in Vietnamese traditional medicine.
They can provide guidance, assess your condition, and recommend appropriate approaches for managing arthritis symptoms based on your specific situation.
